Louis Smith here, writing from Huntingdon Gymnastics Club, just a few months after the most amazing experience of my life so far - winning the Bronze medal on the Pommel Horse at the Beijing Olympics. I never could have realised how crazy my life would be after that, but it has been an absolute rollercoaster! I knew straight away that things were going to be different, when I got upgraded to business class on the flight back from China and then the reception with all the press waiting on the tarmac at Heathrow was just awesome.

Since then I've been mixing with the rich and famous at a number of events, as well as trying to get down to some training back at the gym. I've done Ready Steady Cook, presented an award at the MOBOs, been to no end of posh dinners and had an audience with Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace!

Last week I competed at the Glasgow Grand Prix, which was a bit of a wake up call and, fortunately, I managed to stay on the Horse and win a silver medal to go next to my bronze. This gives me enough points to qualify for the World Cup Final in Madrid in December against the best Pommel workers on the planet. I have to get an early flight back from there though as it's the same weekend as the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards... life's just so hectic.

I've done loads of press interviews and am now getting really used to being infront of a camera. It's weird being recognised in the street back in my home town of Peterborough and I'm amazed at how many people seem to know me.

I'm getting back into intensive training ready for a big year in 2009: European Championships in Italy in April and then the World Championships at the O2 dome in London next October which will be incredible.

Catch up with me next month when I'll be searching for a medal again, this time at the British Championships.

That's all for now,

Cheers,

Louis
