The Tour of Britain
Date: 31/10/2010
In September I was involved in the Tour of Britain with my team at the time, Motorpoint Marshalls Pasta. It began in Rochdale on Saturday 11th September and finished eight days later with the Tfl London Stage, in Newham. I was pretty pleased with how the event went as I had three top ten finishes and was competing against some big names in the cycling circuit. This event is a great way of building up my endurance before the track season begins. It's a fantastic event to be involved with and in 2009 attracted more than one million spectators on the roadside. There was TV coverage of this year's event each day on ITV4.

It is the UK's biggest cycling event. This is where we cycled each day

• Rochdale to Blackpool
• Stoke-On-Trent
• Newton to Swansea
• Minehead toTeignmouth
• Tavistock to Glastonbury
• Kings Lyn to Great Yarmouth
• Bury St Munds to Colchester
• London

One amusing part of this is I was supported by Honda UK who launched a competition where people could download an Ed Clancy mask and had to send in pictures of themselves or friends wearing them.

The first event on the track was the European Track Championships in Poland. Our team won the Team Pursuit event beating Russia. We had Jason Queally on our team who was an Olympic medallist in 2000 and has made a big return to cycling as well as riders, Stephen Burke and Andy Tennant. This event is over 4km and we won by almost 4 seconds. A great start to the track season!

In the individual event I finished in 4th place. I was disappointed to miss out on a medal but it's all good experience and after competing in the Team Pursuit I had little time to recover before the individual event.

Over the last few weeks I have been busy sorting out which team I will cycling for over the next few years. I have signed with a new team which will take me up to the 2012 London Olympic Games so it's an exciting move for me.

At the beginning of December I will be competing in Australia and Columbia for the Track World Cup meetings. I am going to spend an extra few weeks out in Australia to prepare for the event in Columbia.

Thank you all for taking the time to read my blogs over the last few months. I hope you've enjoyed them.
