Jess goes to the World Championships
Date: 1/4/2011
Looking back March was a really busy and exciting month for me as I went to Holland for the World Championships.

A few weeks before we went I was delighted to find out I had been selected for the Team Sprint and would be racing with Victoria Pendleton.

At the event the Team Sprint was won by Australia with a time of 33.327 but Victoria and I won a silver medal with a time of 33.525. It was great to be in the team with Victoria Pendleton who is an amazing cyclist and achieved so much in her career. I went under 19 seconds again so was really pleased as when you are cycling on a new track you never know how quick you are going to go. I've got to keep building on this success with some more big competitions over the next 18 months.

In the individual event I was racing against the person who won the overall competition so I went out in the first round but did another great time which was fantastic as it was regarded as a slow track. Victoria won a bronze medal in this event. This Championship was definitely my highlight of the year, all the teams are prepared and at their best so the pressure is really on. To win a medal at such a big event was fantastic!

Following the World Championships I had 10 days off and it was a nice to have a break. I have now started training again for the Under 23's European Championships in July. Come back next month for my final blog and to see how my preparations are going.
