My training camp in Korea
Date: 12/8/2011
Well I've been very busy since my last blog as I had three weeks in Korea for a training camp. This was a really exciting time for me as Taekwondo is so big in Korea and they have such a high standard of athletes so I had chance to work with the best. When we first got out there we had a competition to see how our training had been going and put everything we'd learnt recently into practise. Then it was two weeks of very intensive training and chance to compete against some of the big professional Korean athletes.

It was very hard training with the Korean team but I learnt lots of new things and am looking forward to putting them into practise in my next big competition. The weather was very hot too so we had to battle against the heat at the same time. I have always been more of an attacker so whilst in Korea I spent a lot of time concentrating on my counter game. It was great preparation with just a year to go!

Speaking of one year to go...I was involved in the "One Year to Go" celebrations whilst in Korea and the unveiling of a countdown clock. This event was held at the Olympic Park in Seoul and was really good fun to be involved with. It made it all seem so much more real that they games are just one year away. I can't wait!

I landed back in the UK on the 29th July and once I'd beaten the jet lag I could settle back into my UK training programme. I've been doing quite a bit of running to work on my general fitness. We've also got two new coaches starting with the GB team next week so that's exciting and I am looking forward to working with them.

On the 21st August I'll be heading to Spain for a week to do some test matches with the Spanish team. It will then be time to really focus on my next big competition which is the British Open in Manchester on the 1st and 2nd October. This is an event I am really looking forward to and it's always nice to compete in front of a local crowd.

Make sure you come back and read my next blog where I'll be able to tell you how my trip to Spain went!
