The British Championships and Olympic Games trial
Date: 15/7/2012
During June I took part in another event at the City of Liverpool. I was going to do the floor event but was advised not to so I just concentrated on the vault, bars and beam again. I came third in the vault event which I was pleased with. When it came to the bars I had a few problems and had to alter my routine. I was disappointed that it didn't go exactly to plan but I did finish in 3rd place despite this. I had a clean routine but there were few wobbles which resulted in me finishing in 5th place. Following this event I had a few days at home before the final Olympic trials...the British Championships.

Once again I decided not to do the floor routine so that I could concentrate all my efforts on the others disciplines. Unfortunately I made a mistake on the beam and finished in 8th place. In the vault I did my double twist but landed with an extra step and finished in 3rd place. Next was the bars which I did improve on but made a slight mistake in my routine. I finished 4th in this one. All that was going through my mind was "have I done enough"?

In the apparatus final I finished in 6th place on the bars. My beam routine went really well until I had a fall on my landing. However I still managed to finish joint second. I really couldn't have done any more after what has been a difficult few years for me with injury problems.

The wait for the team to be announced was really hard. There were five places up for grabs and there were only two places that we could predict (based on performances over the last few months). I was so excited and nervous as I really wanted to be one of those who had made the Olympic team.
Unfortunately on Wednesday 4th July I found out I hadn't made the first team. However I am a reserve for Team GB so I have to keep training and stay focused in case I am needed.

I want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone - my friends, family and fans that have helped me through the tough times. However I wish all my fellow gymnasts all the best of luck and I will be in London cheering them on. It's going to be a great few weeks.
